Artist

Born in Milan, Giuse Maggi currently lives and works in Bahrain. Her early experience in a Ceramic and Pottery studio led to a formal training in the shapes and colors of artistic objects, and since 1990 she has been working with glass. After many years in the countries of the Gulf, her works reflect her inspiration and fascination with the forms and colors of the Arab landscape and traditions.

The mystery of the old cultures and the intense colors of the desert have captured her imagination. Her creative designs and brilliant colors are fused into classic or modern pieces, in different shape and sizes using various techniques such as fusing, lamp work, and pâte de verre. Her most important works include artistic installations and architectural designs.

In 1999 one of her works was selected in the “New Glass Review 20”. The competition, organized by The Corning Museum Of Glass (Corning, NY), selects the 100 most important glass art works of the year, since 1977. Each piece is an individual creation. No two are alike. Neither Giuse Maggi cares to work any other way.
